MUELLE
In the winter of 1997, three James Madison University students and avid musicians joined together and began playing bars and parties in the Harrisonburg, VA area.
Playing a combination of jazz, funk, blues, and jam music, they became a popular local act and played with a variety of local musicians in search of the right people to complete their vision.
Muelle (pronounced “mule”) was formed in 2000 when trumpet player Brian Lile and keyboardist Tyler Cash joined the trio.
With a strong focus on songwriting and improvisation, the band built a sound that was accessible to the wide variety of crowds they encountered while playing nearly every bar and club in the Shenandoah Valley.
While the band focused on original compositions, it also built a large and varied list of covers to pull from which has continued to evolve ever since.
While slowly building a following throughout Virginia, the band decided in 2003 to attack the college scene. After teaming up with East Coast Entertainment, the band has begun playing numerous shows at regional colleges such as James Madison University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Randolph Macon, Hampden-Sydney, Washington and Lee, Longwood, University of South Carolina and Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN).
Every college show they have played to date has been a huge success. In addition, they have been featured at local festivals such as Cecilfest, the Landwirt Vineyard Wine Festival, the Puddin' Cookout at Melrose, the Harbor Blast and the Fall Peace Festival.
Muelle’s early live material has also received airtime on the college radio station WXJM and 98.5 (98 Rocks) in Harrisonburg, Va.
The band can also be heard each month at Cary St. Café (Richmond, VA), as they now have a monthly spot.
Muelle has completed recording their debut album in January of 2005 and it is slated for release in March. The band is dedicated to making every show they perform their best and is extremely professional to work with.
The members of Muelle have been privileged to share the stage with: Yes, Modern Groove Syndicate, Graham Colton, Sponge, Marshall Tucker Band, Pat McGee Band, Rod Stewart, Everything, Fighting Gravity, Jimmy's Chicken Shack, Cast Iron Filter, The Ordinary Way, Sun Dried Opossum, Shwag (w/members of Dark Star Orchestra), Junction, Virginia Coalition, 2 Skinnee J's, John D’Earth, Tom "Bones" Malone, Wynton Marsalis and Butch Taylor

THE TATERS
THE
ORDERLIES
The Orderlies are a trio of singer-songwriters
and multi-instrumentalists based in Richmond, Virginia, with over 40 years
combined professional performance experience and a rare blend of technique,
fluency, and passion. Their music is primarily acoustic and influenced by
popular music of the last four decades. One of their strengths is our
fluid sense of musical arrangement. From moment to moment they listen
to each other, adjusting dynamics and instrumental accompaniment on the
fly to suit (or to shape) the mood of the room.
Radcliffe Burt was one of the leaders of
the Millan and Kenzie band based in Atlanta. They toured the east
coast from 1991 to 1995, when they relocated to Boulder, CO, built a regional
following, and enjoyed significant local radio play. Having produced five
CDs of passionate, earnest music, they parted ways in 1999, and Radcliffe moved
to Richmond. He sings, plays guitar, and writes songs.
Amy Henderson has been performing as a soloist
and bandleader since the early nineties, between Atlanta, South Carolina, and
Richmond. In addition to her work in the Orderlies, she continues to perform as
a soloist and with the Amy Henderson Trio (sometimes with Rad
and/or John sitting in). Amy sings, plays guitar and harmonica, and writes
songs.
John Priestley learned most of what he knows
about songwriting as a a member of the critically acclaimed (but popularly
ignored) college rock band, rake, in Blacksburg, VA (and later London, UK) from
1989 to 1992. Later in the 90's, his interests shifted to ambient
music. He took up the Chapman Stick and began playing improvisational jazz
and ambient music with William Bajzek. In addition to the Orderlies, John
occasionally plays solo ambient music under the stage name of Vilam
Priest. John sings, plays guitar, mandolin, and Stick, and writes songs.

EMILY
EASTERLY
Growing up in Richmond, Virginia, Emily Easterly’s discovery of the Beatles is what first inspired her to learn the guitar at age nine and write songs at the age of twelve. Now primarily influenced by such artists as Cat Power, Aimee Mann, PJ Harvey, early Liz Phair and Sparklehorse, her songwriting has definite twinges of her indie influences while still appealing to a wide variety of listeners. Her voice is reminiscent of unassuming singers such as Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders and Aimee Mann, displaying a kind of restraint and understatement but in a powerful way. Her wispy, weathered vocals have light texture which sound confidently timid.
Emily graduated with a degree in classical guitar from the University of Miami in the School of Music. While in school, she released two albums, 2001’s “Assembling Emily” and 2002’s “Cole”. Both albums were recorded at Sound of Music Studios in Richmond, VA and were engineered by Alan Weatherhead (Sparklehorse, Cracker, Clem Snide) and co-produced by Miguel Urbitztondo (Maki, Koester). In the spring of 2002, “Cole” charted on the CMJ (College Music Journal)’s top 200 radio charts as one of few self released albums.
During her last year at Miami in 2005, “Seasons Never Change” was recorded in Miami Beach, FL at the Laundry Room Studio by producer Frank “Rat Bastard” Falestra. “Seasons Never Change” shows a departure from the previous releases. It focuses less on production and more on Emily’s voice and the songs themselves. It features nine new songs that were all inspired by her four year stay in the city of Miami.
