FAREWELL
Mark Brown's guitar playing, singing and songwriting were born in his teens but his passion to pursue the craft makes up for any time lost. Mark has played in bands in and around Washington, D.C. and spent time in Nashville dedicated to writing new music. His style is influenced by the roots rock sounds of the alt-country movement balanced by an unashamed pop sensibility.
Rob Blackwell began teaching himself guitar at the age of 8 and has been writing songs since he was an early teenager. His influences range from Dave Matthews and James Taylor to Boston and even the Doobie Brothers. Rob has worked on a number of projects over the last several years including a solo release, To Proclaim Freedom, recorded in Nashville and produced by John Pisciotta.
Mark and Rob are excited to establish a compelling new presence together in Richmond, VA. Their intimate lyrics and soulful composition, inspired by a spiritual pursuit of the truth, are guaranteed to peak your interest.
When asked about their current project they agree, “It's a blessing to find another musician whose voice, songwriting, and musical style are so incredible. Match that with spiritual integrity and we simply can't ask for more. We're really excited to see where this goes.”

THE TATERS
THE
PEOPLE'S KEY
The
People's Key have been on the local Richmond music scene in various incarnations
since the early 1980’s. (Their
name and their signature tune are taken from a song by the 1970’s folk/swing
group The Central Park Sheiks).
The core of the band, Robin and Hank Selby, originally fronted Misbehavin’, a traditional 7-piece jazz group.
Hank has stayed active in music from that time on, playing in various
bar/lounge/cover groups, during which time he has been lucky enough to play with
a wide variety of talented local musicians, and early on focused on writing and
performing original music. The core
group now features Hank Selby on guitar and vocals, his wife Robin on harmonica
and vocals, and Margaret Redford on lead and harmony vocals.
They are augmented by a variety of their good musical friends depending
on the venue and audience.
Their
original repertoire features the broad range found in their full set list –
everything from blues to reggae to jazz to…country.
Although their sound would not really be called “Americana” in the
usual sense, it encompasses the great tradition that is American Music.
The People’s Key are excited to acquaint the friends of Richmond Roots
Revival with their unique brand of original tunes.
