THE TATERS
SUPERBOOT
SuperBoot, from Richmond, VA, is on
a mission to energize the genre. SuperBoot combines its original rock & roll
sound with high-energy performances, thus earning the reputation as a
"great live rock & roll band".
Twin brothers Rick and Rod
Hollowell share the writing duties -- Rod the music and Rick the lyrics. Rod
describes their sound as a cross between Pearl Jam and The Who, stating that
"we're way into rock." Their musical influence lies with Pearl Jam and
their "vibe" comes from the energy of The Who. SuperBoot's songs have
an infectious sound, topical lyrics and each of the four tracks on the EP work
together to guide the listener through an emotional story. While SuperBoot has a
heart that lies within their grunge musical influences, they've got a rock and
roll soul and a sound that's purely modern.
SuperBoot is: Rick Hollowell-Vocals,
Rod Hollowell-Guitar, Randy Martin-Drums, Mike O'Connor-Bass

THE TATERS
HIGHWAY
10
The beginning of Highway 10 can be traced to early 1997 when Pete Chiappinelli and Matthew Koon formed their first band, Prodigal Son. Pete, the son of a professional Opera Singer has a voice that brings to mind Lenny Kravitz and Sebastian Bach. Matt’s Slash/Page influenced guitar playing is the perfect complement. Together, the chemistry is undeniable.
Since then, they have been in three other bands together, always looking for the right mix of players. Through their work in these bands (primarily in the popular Blues/Rock cover band The Bad Mama Jamas) they have acquired recognition and respect throughout the Richmond,
VA area. For several months both Matt and Pete were listed by local music publication Richmond Music Journal as the top guitarist and vocalist in the city of Richmond, respectfully.
In May 2001, Pete and Matt started working on the album “Days Like These”. Finished in April of 2003, the album is a tour-de-force of heavy guitar, soulful melodies, and great songwriting. From Kravitz –like rockers like “Philosophy” and Zeppelin-influenced acoustic numbers like “You I Know” to the blending of styles present in songs like “PLS” and “If”, the music on the album can best be described as “Guns n’ Roses meets Motown”.
In January 2003 Adam Young stepped in on Drums. Adam is one of the most sought-after drum teachers in the Richmond area. An experienced jazz drummer, Adam is new to the Richmond rock scene. He blends creativity with unbelievable technique to make the dream of the best band possible a reality. Bassist,
Jason Werner, makes the
circle complete giving Highway 10 the best rhythm section any rock band can imagine.

THE TATERS
ALLEN
THOMPSON
Time passes slowly for some. For Allen Thompson,
time never seems to move fast enough. Over the past two years, Allen has been
able to parlay his ability for combining poignant and personal lyrics with raw,
catchy chord progressions into two albums and countless live shows that
captivate all who are willing to listen and watch.
Allen's first release, an EP titled Highway took
the Richmond, Virginia music scene by surprise. The work done at David Lowery's
Sound of Music Recording Studio shows that Allen's blend of Soul, Country, and
Rock music holds its own with that of any seasoned artist from the area. The
release of Highway led to Allen's next project, and the beginning of an exciting
new chapter in Allen's life.
In August of 2006, production began on Allen's first full-length collection of
new studio recordings. The upcoming album, titled simply Allen Thompson, was
co-produced by Allen, Tim Lofton, and widely-acclaimed guitarist Jimmy Nalls
(Sea Level, Alex Taylor, Bobby Whitlock, Dr. John). Allen Thompson blends the
laid-back California Country of Merle Haggard with the hard-rocking Americana of
The Band and The Grateful Dead with a touch of Stax R&B and white Capricorn
Records Soul to create an album that is desperate, yet relaxed and melancholy,
yet beautiful all at once.
The sessions for the this new release were
recorded with some giants in the fields of Soul, Americana, Jam, and Bluegrass.
Jimmy Nalls was able to recruit such artists as Bonnie Bramlett, Jack Pearson,
Harry Stinson, and Dave Pomeroy to lend their talents to the sessions. Their
contributions are both unmistakable and unforgettable.
Upon listening to an Allen Thompson song, it is
immediately apparent he holds a strong knowledge of American Music. Allen is
unique, though, in that he doesn't simply rehash old tunes. Instead, he adds new
sounds to the old to create timeless songs that add to the tradition,
strengthening the roots of Americana song by song.
The future seems bright for this boy from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.
As he prepares for the release of his debut album, he is gearing up for what is
sure to be an exciting chapter in the life of a man born to make music.
