COPILOT
CoPilot’s funk rock sound began through a love of a variety of musical styles. The band cites musical influences from Prince to John Coltrane to The Red Hot Chili Peppers. By incorporating their many different tastes Chipp Corderman, Derrick Englert and Allen Sleeman have created a sound uniquely their own. Their first album contains 12 songs, each one a distinctive blend of rock and funk. During their live performances they incorporate their original work with an eclectic blend of cover songs. Their covers include music from Bob Marley, Bill Withers, Jimi Hendrix, Parliament, Red Hot Chili Peppers, James Brown, Prince, Wild Cherry, Stevie Wonder, Sly and the Family Stone, Edgar Winter, Joe Cocker, and Eric Clapton.
The band started in 2003 in Richmond, Virginia by Chipp Corderman, Derrick Englert and Allen Sleeman. The guys met at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond where all three majored in music. CoPilot’s members grew up all over the state of Virginia; Chipp hails from Fredericksburg and Derrick from Virginia Beach, while Allen remains a true Richmond native. Their different hometowns have created opportunities to play all over the state and have helped them develop a statewide fan base. CoPilot frequents venues from West Virginia to Norfolk and down to North Carolina. No matter where they travel, their loyal fans follow. They look forward to opportunities to play additional cities along the Atlantic Coast.

THE TATERS
INTENSE
CITY
Intense City draws its influences
from classic rock, funk, and jazz. Most of their songs, including
original songs, would probably be classified as “rock and roll.” Improvisation
during performance is highly stressed. Their repertoire consists of
an ever growing, healthy mix of original and covers songs. Artists
covered include Buddy Miles, Traffic, Santana, Little Feat, Curtis Mayfield, Al
Kooper, Shuggie Otis, Steely Dan, Talking Heads and the Beatles.
All members met as students at JMU in
Harrisonburg, VA, and began playing music together in the fall of 2003. Gigging
began that same year and has continued since. Intense City has
become one of the more popular local bands in the JMU community and has now
relocated to Richmond, VA. Over these few years Intense City has played
all over Virginia and shared the stage with artist such as The Wailers,
Perpetual Groove, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band.

THE TATERS
ROBERT
PARKER VAUGHAN
Robert Parker Vaughan is a
24-year-old singer-songwriter based in Richmond, VA. After three years of
continuous writing and performing, he released his debut recording: the 'Strange
Times' EP. The album holds true to the honest, organic style that Robert
conveys when he performs as a live solo-acoustic act, but is also enhanced by
additional instruments such as piano, violin, bass, djembe, and hauntingly
gorgeous female vocals. The 'Strange Times' EP was self-produced and recorded at
the renowned Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, Ohio. Robert attended the
institute in hopes he would acquire the knowledge and skills to produce and
record his own musical vision. The 'Strange Times' EP is the fruit of his
labor: a memoir of the strange times we live in.
Now on the brink of age 25, Robert has prepared a new album, the 'Glitterbaby'
EP. This second album is where the heavier side of Robert's musical
influences begin to shine through as he straps on an electric guitar and is
accompanied by a full drum kit, electric bass, and keyboards. While
remaining lyrically focused, as expected from a singer-songwriter, the songs on
Robert's new album definitely lean more toward an indie rock sound than his
previous release. Though the solo acoustic aspect of Robert's music is
less apparent on 'Glitterbaby,' the honest emotion and organic feel remain
crystal clear, while the lush full band sound tastefully and stylistically
contributes to the compositions.
